Today’s trivia was written without using one of the vowels except when it was impossible. When you figure out which vowel, you’ll know what I mean when I say “Impossible.” Tell me when you discover which one by writing me without using the vowel.
From tight plot twists to dynamic protagonists, crafting captivating writing is no small task. But among all daunting tasks, lipograms stand tall. A lipogram, a form of writing avoiding a particular glyph, prompts authors to omit a common symbol. This tradition spans back to antiquity, inspiring both humor and admiration. You may find this work amusing, as it too omits a common glyph. It’s a fun play with words, all without that iconic fifth symbol in our Latin script.
An author who took on this linguistic trial is famous for his work La Disparition. Known globally, Georges Perec’s book is missing that iconic glyph. Not a word in his original work contains it.
Want to impact writing with quirky book trivia? Lipograms might do it.
A bit odd but amusing, lipograms call for unusual tricks. This form prompts authors to do roundabout vocabulary, avoiding common words. But, contrary to what you might think, it can aid in honing writing skills. Authors avoid lazy words, opting for vivid, dynamic phrasing. It’s all about how to work around limits without compromising a story.
For all avid authors curious to join in, lipograms can transform writing into a brain-stimulating activity. It’s hard at first, but soon, it works as a brilliant writing drill. Think of it as linguistic yoga, pushing you to find clarity and concision. A lipogram tips your mind to think critically about words, improving your vocabulary.
Bring up lipograms if you want to wow with fun trivia. Lipograms show how authors can turn limitations into triumphs. It’s all about how you approach it. Try this fun form of wordplay, and you might find your writing skills blossom!

We hear authors complain about all the personal stuff on Facebook. Most of these complaints are because the author doesn’t understand the difference difference between a Facebook profile and a Facebook page. Simply put, a profile is for personal things for friends and family; a page is for business. If your book is just a hobby, then it’s fine to have only a Facebook profile and make your posts for friends and family; however, if you’re serious about your writing, and it’s a business with you, or you want it to be business, then you need a Facebook page as an author. It’s simple to tell if it’s a page or a profile. A profile shows how many friends and a page shows how many likes. Here’s a link <> to a straight forward description on how to set up your author Facebook page.
