As a writer and author you may receive an email from Author Solutions reading something like this:
Dear Author:
We recently had mail addressed to you returned to us by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable. In order for us to forward future mail such as tax forms, royalty checks, etc. to you, we need your current mailing address.
The email then asks for your contact information and ends by telling you that your royalty check is on hold until your information is received.
For your own satisfaction and information I strongly suggest you do a Google search using the words, Author Solutions Scam.
For authors and writers who may not know, Author Solutions is the parent company of AuthorHouse, iUniverse, Trafford Publishing, Xlibris, Palibrio, and Booktango.
If there is any doubt in your mind about the integrity of Author Solutions then, also do a Google search using the above company names followed by Scam.
From an article in The Independent Publishing Magazine we read,
“This article will shed some light on a company that is dogged by controversy involving the deceit of authors. The company at the centre of the on-going controversy is Author Solutions along with its US imprints, AuthorHouse, Xlibris, iUniverse and Trafford and several more.
“So you don’t recognise the names above? Author Solutions also has partnerships with well-known US publishers which include Archway Publishing (with Simon & Schuster), Balboa Press (with Hay House), LifeRich Publishing (with The Reader’s Digest Association), and WestBow Press (with Thomas Nelson & Zondervan).
“If you reside outside the US, also be aware that Author Solutions has extended its international reach by forming partnerships abroad which have resulted in companies such Balboa Press AU, Partridge Africa, Partridge India, Partridge Singapore and megustaescribir (targeting Spanish authors).”
Publishing scammers are not limited to the companies mentioned here.
Before you become involved or pay any money just take a moment and do a Google search using the company name followed by Scam.
This goes for publishers, agents, printers, copy editors, and reviewers—anyone involved in publishing, marketing, and selling books or offering services to authors.
