“The only security of all is in a free press. The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to. It is necessary to keep the waters pure.” These words by Thomas Jefferson encapsulate his profound belief in the power of writing and the necessity of a free press. Jefferson, a Founding Father of the United States and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, understood the written word’s immense influence on public opinion and societal norms. His reflections remind us of the enduring power of the pen in shaping a nation’s destiny.

His correspondence with various political figures, including his famous letters to John Adams, reveals a man deeply engaged in the intellectual and political discourse of his time. These letters, rich with philosophical insights and practical wisdom, reflect Jefferson’s belief in reasoned debate and the power of well-crafted arguments to influence policy and public opinion. This period of prolific writing provided a window into Jefferson’s mind, showcasing his dedication to the principles of democracy and enlightenment.

We hear authors complain about all the personal stuff on Facebook. Most of these complaints are because the author doesn’t understand the difference difference between a Facebook profile and a Facebook page. Simply put, a profile is for personal things for friends and family; a page is for business. If your book is just a hobby, then it’s fine to have only a Facebook profile and make your posts for friends and family; however, if you’re serious about your writing, and it’s a business with you, or you want it to be business, then you need a Facebook page as an author. It’s simple to tell if it’s a page or a profile. A profile shows how many friends and a page shows how many likes. Here’s a link <> to a straight forward description on how to set up your author Facebook page.
